COMPETITION TIME! Get your poem featured on The Poetry's Dead Podcast!
The Poetry Edit and The Poetry's Dead Podcast are joining forces to bring you an amazing opportunity to showcase your poetry talent!
THE WHO:
The Poetry Edit is a weekly poetry newsletter promoting proper recompense for poets and creating opportunities within the poetry industry.
The Poetry’s Dead Podcast is a weekly poetry podcast exploring the work of poets old and new, with an “Agony Poet” and a little bit of craic mixed in!
Together we are bringing you an amazing poetry competition, where the prize is a featured slot on The Poetry’s Dead Podcast. Yes, it’s the stuff of dreams!
THE WHAT: We are looking for a poem in English, up to 40 lines long, in any style, on any theme, and it should not have been previously published. Following the submission deadline, The Poetry Edit will create a shortlist of 3 poems, and these will be put to a vote on The Poetry’s Dead Podcast Patreon. The poem which receives the most votes will be the winning poem and will have its own featured slot on The Poetry’s Dead Podcast!
THE WHEN: The deadline for submission is midnight (UTC +1) on June 17th 2024. Shortlist voting will go live at midday on June 20th and close at midday on June 27th, and the winning poem will be featured on The Poetry’s Dead Podcast on July 1st!
THE HOW: Prior to submitting your poem, you will need to sign up as a free or paid subscriber to The Poetry Edit, and also follow The Poetry’s Dead Podcast on Instagram. You can then submit your poem using the form below (press the “submit” button!), or alternatively email poetrysdeadpoetryeditcomp@outlook.com
GOOD LUCK! Fi, Ryan and Leon x
THE SMALL PRINT!:
This competition is free to enter, and submissions are limited to one poem per person.
The Poetry Edit will create a shortlist of 3 poems from all those submitted. The shortlisted poets will be contacted and will be asked to provide a short bio. The shortlisted poems will then be posted on The Poetry’s Dead Podcast Patreon for subscribers to vote for their favourite.
The poem with the most votes (the winning poem!) will be read out on The Poetry’s Dead podcast, along with a bio of the poet and social media handle/website info if desired.
The winning poet will also be mentioned in The Poetry Edit’s July 2nd newsletter.
The winning poet will retain copyright of their poem but grants The Poetry’s Dead Podcast and The Poetry Edit exclusive right to use the poem on their podcast/social media/newsletters.
All dates mentioned are subject to change - should there be any alteration to the above we will do our best to inform people via Substack/Patreon and social media.
